The end to nativity costume dramas…

Written by Tracey Blake

Chances are that your child has just found out they have a role in their school nativity play – and that after this festive joy has subsided you’ll need to start panicking about fashioning a wise Man, shepherd, Mary or sheep costume. there may even be some donkeys out there!

But before you start tearing your hair out trying to attach cotton wool balls to an old leotard,  check out your local supermarket because all the biggies have come up trumps with costumes this year. Below are our favourites. They are so good that we think you could donate them to the school afterwards, so they can re-use them next year.

George at Asda is something of a one-stop shop for all manner of Christmas-related characters including a king, angel, shepherd, sheep and a rather fabulous star costume which I rather wish came in an adult size! Prices start from £10

Not to be outdone Tesco’s Florence & Fred has a shepherd outfit that even comes with a sheep hand puppet (from £8) and the Mary is pretty swish too (also £8).

Not a great deal of choice at Marks & Spencer which hasn’t gone big on nativity but they do have one of the prettiest angel costumes (from £9)

Sainsbury’s Tu has a whole nativity store – expect the full range of characters and this rather natty reindeer (£11), should your school be going a bit experimental with plot lines!
